François obtained his LL.B. degree from Université Laval in Québec City (dean’s list) in 2015. His academic performance allowed him to work as a research assistant under several law professors, and he has contributed to many academic articles on various civil law topics such as the law of limitations and the law of mortgages. He was called to the bar in 2016. He articled and began his legal career at one of the major law firms in Canada, where he worked mainly in civil litigation and administrative law matters.
François has always had a keen interest for international matters, especially for the Asia Pacific region. Before his legal career, he obtained a B.A. in international studies, with a minor in Japanese studies, in 2006. This led him to live and work in Japan for several years. There, he acquired a knowledge of the Japanese culture and language which allowed him to work as a teacher, translator, interpreter, and consultant.
In addition to his native French and English, François is fluent in Japanese.
